Production: The show is produced by In Arms Theatre in Association with two Toronto Theatre Companies (not yet announced)

Story:
The Green Line explores intergenerational memory through the lens of four queer relationships in Beirut, Lebanon. Two women fall in love under the tumult of war while two men meet for the first time in the hidden recesses of the queer night life. At its heart, The Green Line is a contemplation of the way memories are inherited or erased from our lineages.

Project Notes:
We are looking for performers who can read and speak Arabic in a Lebanese dialect. If you can only speak, please reach out and apply. Only select performances will be in Arabic and the audience will be provided subtitling throughout the entire run.

Characters to Cast:
Mona – 20-30 – Femme, Female, sprite like energy. Mona is a dreamer, a light bubbly energy, trying to hold onto her hopes and dreams in the descending chaos of the war. She is falling in love with Yara.

Yara – 20-30 – Femme, Female, tree like energy. Yara is rooted, she's a Palestinian refugee born in Lebanon, she is grounded and practical. She also is falling in love with Mona, but trying to keep it suppressed.

Naseeb/Rami – 20-30 – Masc, Male. Double role as father and son (Naseeb and Rami respectively). Naseeb is a hardened and anxious young man descending into madness as he attempts to take care of his sister (Mona) during an increasingly worsening civil war. Rami is Naseeb’s son, who has come to Lebanon, many years later, to bury his father, as per his father’s wishes. Rami is Canadianized and doesn’t know how to speak Arabic. He goes to a gay nightclub on the night of his father’s funeral.

القصة:
The Green Line يستكشف الذاكرة بين الأجيال من خلال عدسة أربع علاقات مثليّة في بيروت، لبنان. تقع امرأتان في الحب تحت وطأة الحرب، بينما يلتقي رجلان لأول مرة في خفايا الحياة الليلية المثليّة. في جوهره، يُعد The Green Line تأملاً في كيفية توريث الذكريات أو محوها من أصولنا.

ملاحظات المشروع:
نبحث عن مؤدين يمكنهم قراءة والتحدث بالعربية باللهجة اللبنانية. إذا كان بإمكانك التحدث فقط، يرجى التواصل والتقديم. بعض العروض ستكون باللغة العربية، وسيتم توفير الترجمة للجمهور طوال فترة العرض.

الشخصيات المطلوبة:

مونا – 20-30 سنة – أنثوية، طاقة خفيفة ومبتهجة. مونا هي حالمة، طاقتها خفيفة ومبتهجة، تحاول التمسك بآمالها وأحلامها وسط فوضى الحرب المتزايدة. هي في حالة حب مع يارا.

يارا – 20-30 سنة – أنثوية، طاقة ثابتة كالعادة. يارا جذرية، هي لاجئة فلسطينية ولدت في لبنان، هي ثابتة وعملية. هي أيضاً تقع في حب مونا، ولكنها تحاول كبح مشاعرها.

نصيب/رامي – 20-30 سنة – ذكورية، ذكر. دور مزدوج كأب وابن (نصيب ورامي على التوالي). نصيب هو شاب متصلب وقلق يغرق في الجنون بينما يحاول الاعتناء بشقيقته (مونا) أثناء الحرب الأهلية المتصاعدة. رامي هو ابن نصيب، الذي جاء إلى لبنان بعد سنوات عديدة لدفن والده حسب رغبة والده. رامي أصبح كندياً ولا يعرف كيفية التحدث بالعربية. يذهب إلى نادي مثلي في ليلة جنازة والده.
